Oh really?
Jul. 23rd, 2008 04:25 pmGot an interesting call just now.
Background: Have had at least 4 calls over the last three days from the local Democratic party looking for donations, etc. Now, I'm *not* picking on the Dems. I'm sure the Republicans are doing the same thing right now. Washington State had a voting' thing' for the vote earlier this year that you had to declare a party to even be allowed to vote. PITA and not at all fair, but there you have it. That silly-ass law has been changed for the upcoming election in Nov. Not that the change is all that great, but that's for another rant. Any-who, I declared Dem. So I'm now on their state list.
Flash forward to now.
Just got a call from the local Dems. The guy starts in and I cut him off saying 'If you're looking for money, I don't have it.' His immediate reply was 'No! We're looking for folks with a bit of time to spend.' I'm cautious and ask him 'what'. He askes if I've ever had anything to do with 'film making'. Okay, this is cool and I tell him so, but mostly on the tech end.
His reply? "Great! What we'll do is give you a script and a list of people to contact and ask them ..."
And that's when I cut him off again. "Sir, that's call 'cold calling' and I don't do that."
He gives me a haphazard 'Thanks.' and hangs up.
So in what alternate universe does 'film making' = 'cold calling'?
